It's being reported that a sequel to the original 1946 film, "It's A Wonderful Life," is in development with the 2015 holiday season eyed for the release date.
It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story is described as a story (via Variety) focusing on George Bailey's grandson in which original actress Karolyn Grimes, who played Baily's grandaughter Zuzu, will be the angel this time around. Grimes was the little girl known for the famous line: "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!”
No other casting decisions have been made, but it's reported that original actors Jimmy Hawkins, who portrayed Tommy Bailey, and Carol Coombs, who played Janie Bailey, are in discussions to reprise their roles as well.
It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story is being put together by Star Partners and Hummingbird Prods. with Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton having written the screenplay.
Apparently there may be contention over the rights as Paramount currently own the copyright to the original film and respective characters.
